LIST OF WORKSHOPS

Section A

Workshop A-1. The Bible and the Liturgy: The Marriage of the Lamb

In this workshop we will discover the beauty of the liturgy and its relationship with the Bible, in particular with the Apocalypse. This talk is based on the book by Dr. Scott Hahn: "The Supper of the Lamb." The supper of the Lamb is the moving and lucid vision of the reality of the liturgy of the Eucharist, the act of worship that our High Priest gave us on the eve of his death.

Workshop A-2. The Psalms in the Church: What a psalmist should know

The psalms are the heart of the Old Testament. The psalms are the mirror of the wonders of God in the history of his people and in the human situations experienced by the psalmist. In the liturgy we sing the psalms. In this workshop we will focus on the Church documents on this important ministry. We will give advice on how to improve vocalization and presentation techniques.

Workshop A-3. The liturgical guitar: many rhythms, a single faith

Knowing our assembly is the first step of a liturgical musician. The diversity of cultures, rhythms and musical expressions of the peoples requires that the guitarist become familiar with various rhythms, particularly Caribbean, Central and South American rhythms. In this workshop we will review various rhythms that help us improve our performance on the guitar. In particular, the Caribbean rhythms.

Section b

Workshop B-1. The Challenges of a Choir: From the pandemic to the post-pandemic

Covid-19 has changed the rules and forms the modus operandi in all the liturgical ministries of the Church. From the Choir to the members of the assembly they have had to make and adjust to changes that may at first sight seem negative or positive. In this workshop we will discuss and give practical advice on the challenges that affect our communities today.

Workshop B-2. Songs for the Liturgical Seasons: Lent and Holy Week

The liturgical seasons are important in the life of the Church. It is essential to know these times and learn and choose songs for each time. This workshop is designed for any minister of music or lover of liturgical music who wishes to learn new songs for the season of Lent, Holy Week and Easter. This workshop will be led by a member of AMPHE, GIA or OCP.

Workshop B-3. Songs for the Liturgical Seasons: Advent and Christmas

The liturgical seasons are important in the life of the Church. It is essential to know these times and learn and choose songs for each time. This workshop is designed for any music minister or lover of liturgical music who wants to learn new songs for Advent, Christmas and Ordinary Time. This workshop will be led by a member of AMPHE, GIA or OCP.

Section C

Workshop C-1. Music for the Sacraments: Quinceañeras, weddings and funerals

The celebration of the sacraments in the Church are moments of grace that God gives to his people to sanctify, nurture and fill it with heavenly goods. This workshop is designed for any minister of music or lover of liturgical music who wishes to learn new songs for quinceañeras, weddings and funeral celebrations. This workshop will be led by a member of AMPHE, GIA or OCP.

Workshop C-2. Youth Ministry: Challenges, Tips, and Tools

Youth ministry is of great importance in the life of the Church. Pope Francis reminds us that they “are not the future but the now of God”. As we approach World Youth Day 2023, young people are called to “be originals, not photocopies” of the past. This workshop is designed for those who work in youth ministry.

Workshop C-3. Liturgical Documents for Ministers of Music

It is important to know the Church documents about the Mass well in order to be promoters of an authentic and healthy liturgical celebration. This workshop is a brief introduction and commentary on the following documents: The Constitution of the Sacred Liturgy, General Instruction of the Roman Missal, Music in Catholic Worship, Liturgical Music Today, and Sing to the Lord.
