Damaris Thillet
President
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Damaris Thillet served as director of the worship office in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and other worship offices on the East Coast of the United States. She is president and co-founder of the Association of Hispanic Pastoral Musicians of the United States (AMPHE). With 45 years of ministry experience, she is a renowned songwriter, presenter and recording artist throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Damaris studied music education with a vocal concentration at Temple University and her graduate studies in liturgy at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was part of the team that developed the songs that accompany the new Roman Missal in Spanish for the United States. In 2005, she was recognized by the city of Philadelphia and New Jersey for her contributions and dedication to the community through the arts, music education, and her service to the Church. During her time and service in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Damaris was able to develop a music education program for children, adolescents and young adults for the Catholic Institute of the Archdiocese. In 2015, she was invited to conduct the Hispanic Archdiocesan Choir at the closing Mass of the World Meeting of Families in the United States during Pope Francis' visit. Damaris and her late husband, Diego Correa, were also selected as two of Southeastern New Jersey's most notable Hispanic honorees in commemoration of that year's National Hispanic Heritage Month. In 2016 she received the Adelante Hispanic Heritage Award in Vineland, New Jersey. Damaris currently lives in San Antonio, TX, but she always remains connected to her roots, her beloved Puerto Rico, her extended family on the East Coast and Albuquerque, NM
